Renovations: James Hardie Siding Replacement
A Lakewood homeowner was fed up after having to pay for repeated repairs due to holes caused by woodpeckers. The 1970s-built home originally had panel siding. In subsequent years, the homeowner had EIFS insulated stucco installed over the old siding but found that the persistent winged creatures were especially attracted to the new surface.
He had previously employed a contractor to repair the holes caused by the birds, but they came back and made more. He wanted a permanent, low-maintenance solution that would keep the fowl at bay. After meeting with our professional, knowledgeable sales representative, he decided to partner with Refined Exteriors.
Woodpeckers don’t stand a chance against pest-resistant Hardie Board siding
We suggested durable Hardie Board fiber cement siding for the Lakewood area home. Also known as HardiePanel or HardiePlank, this premium brand has many benefits. In addition to being pest resistant, James Hardie siding offers a choice of gorgeous, fade-resistant colors; is low-maintenance; endures the Denver area’s weather extremes; comes in styles to suit any homeowner, and has beautiful curb appeal.
Before beginning the work, we used our special Hover rendering software to show the homeowner exactly what he could expect for the final design. We also drilled some holes in the EIFS exterior to confirm we wouldn’t also have to replace the sheathing, although we did find that he needed sheathing replacements on the gables.
Fast, beautiful results
We were able to find a slot to begin the work sooner than expected and completed the work in short order, on time, and budget. After the exterior overhaul, the client was thrilled with his home’s new look and especially happy that he wouldn’t be expecting any more unwelcome woodpecker visitors.
